History
Bob Janousek, Philip Gregory, John Marinaro and Harold Pullen started Janousek Racing Boats in February 1981.
The Company's original factory was in Shepperton Marina. Production moved to the current Byfleet location in 1982.
In 1991 Janousek Racing Boats Ltd acquired a majority shareholding in Stämpfli Racing Boats. Stämpfli started making boats in Switzerland in 1896 and has a proud heritage worldwide of designing and building fast, technologically superior, winning racing boats. We have incorporated certain aspects of the outstanding Stämpfli design into our Janousek singles, pairs and fours.
Bob Janousek
Bob Janousek was born in Czechoslovakia in 1937. He was appointed as chief men's coach to the Czechoslovakia team for the 1968 Olympics and to the GB team for the 1972 and 1976 Olympic Games. In 1979 The Cambridge President asked Bob Janousek to act as head coach for the Cambridge University crew.
Bob retired from his position as Managing Director of Janousek Racing Boats Ltd in 1997.
